Geoff Gascoyne & Iain Mackenzie
Bassist Geoff Gascoyne and vocalist Iain Mackenzie release an album of 13 carefully crafted, brand new songs, all co-composed in the ‘Great American Songbook’ tradition and beautifully recorded with a 37 piece orchestra made up of big band and strings.
Gascoyne’s meticulous production delivers a true classic and authentic sound, while Mackenzie brings to life timeless lyrics of love and romance, of hopes and dreams with a style straight from the ‘cool school’ of Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole.
Featuring many of London’s finest musicians. Alongside Geoff (bass) is his long term collaborator (from their time with Jamie Cullum) Sebastiaan de Krom (drums), the multi award winning David Newton (piano) and Chris Allard (guitar). The 17 piece big band features soloists Alex Garnett (tenor saxophone), Mark Nightingale (trombone), Anthony Kerr (vibraphone) George Hogg (trumpet) Callum Au (trombone) Simon Marsh (alto saxophone) and Simon Gardner (trumpet). The 20 piece string section is lead by John Mills (lead violin from The John Wilson Orchestra).
