After six years touring and recording with Jamie Cullum, Geoff returns with a new quartet and this fabulous new album.  POP BOP is a journey through Geoff's favourite pop songs from the last 30 years, newly arranged and featuring the legendary Jim Mullen - guitar, Graeme Blevins - alto sax and his fellow Jamie Cullum partner Seb de Krom - drums as well as a guest vocal from Trudy Kerr.

Nigel Price Organ Trio - Live! is the follow up to 2005’s Fool’s Gold release, and was recorded at three venues during a UK tour in April and May 2009 (Milestones Jazz Club, Hotel Hatfield, Lowestoft; The Bull’s Head, Barnes; and Dereham Jazz Society, The Lakeside Country Club, Norfolk).  Nigel Price Organ Trio - Live! sees Nigel once again supported by Pete Whittaker on organ and Matt Home on drums, the live album format capturing perfectly the energetic spirit of this gritty three piece.

Snapshot is Derek Nash's second solo album (see also Sax Appeal) which features nine diverse tunes.Derek is a full-time member of the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, as well as running Sax Appeal and Protect the Beat.  Here he records a straight ahead, swinging album in Blue Note style, mixing standards with acoustic interpretations of modern tunes.  Derek is featured on all four saxes and is joined by Jan Lundgren - piano, Geoff Gascoyne - bass, Steve Brown Drums.

Sketchbook is an exciting two tenor-blowing extravaganza.  On this, his second album for Jazzizit, British Tenor star Dave O'Higgins teams up with New York tenor great Eric Alexander.  Dave met Eric through drummer Kristian Leth, when he was touring Denmark.  Already a hugh admirer of Eric's playing, Dave didn't need much encouragement to get together with Eric along with Kristian, Arnie Somogyi - bass and James Pearson - piano to record this great album.

Trudy teams up with British jazz legend and Ellington aficionado Michael Garrick on piano (and bassist Paul Moylan on selected tracks) to add a new dimension to some of the Duke’s favourite tunes. Among them are In a Sentimental Mood, Mood Indigo and Don’t Get Around Much Anymore plus some of Michael’s own compositions such as October Woman and Song by the Sea.

Jazzizit Records are delighted to present In the Zone by the Dave O'Higgins Quartet/Quintet.  The CD marks a return to straight ahead acoustic jazz for Dave his first for the Jazzizit Label.  The Dave O'Higgins Quartet/Quintet is made up of the finest musicians. Featuring Tom Cawley - piano, Sam Burgess - bass, Seb de Krom - drums and Martin Shaw - tpt and Dave on Tenor and Soprano sax.

Jazzizit Records are delighted to announce Big City Calling, the debut jazz release by artist John Heavens.    Big City Calling is stylistically eclectic and is a contemporary blend of Jazz, Rap, African, Rock and Gospel showcasing John’s original compositions and subtle vocals.  Featuring Andrea Vicari - piano/arrangements, Jonathon Brattof - guitar, Mark Parnell - drums.

Acoustic Ladyland pianist Tom Cawley's Curios took the Best Band prize at the BBC Jazz awards in July 06 - but if he's the electronic engine room of Acoustic Ladyland, Cawley is a subtle acoustic pianist with Curios. He sounds more creatively distanced from his model, Brad Mehldau, here, and the conversational empathy with bassist Sam Burgess and the young Derby drummer Josh Blackmore puts the group up with the world-class practitioners of this intricate and intimate kind of jazz.

Kerr’s theme for the CD is based on songs that have a significant link to her past.  The twelve beautiful tracks display Kerr’s undoubted versatility as a jazz singer. Trudy is accompanied by the fabulous Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren, her husband Geoff Gascoyne on bass and Steve Brown on drums.  Geoff has arranged for string quartet a moving version of  “The Summer Knows” as well as augmenting other tracks on the album with strings played by the Juno String Quartet. Trudy’s special guest is Bob Dorough who sang an upbeat duet with Trudy on his original composition of “Up Jumped a Bird”.

Stunning young vocalist, Anjali Perin, is taking vocal jazz and turning it on its head with her accomplished debut CD. Anjali's voice is warm, soulful, beguiling and powerful and she is a great scat improviser. The album is a mix of original compositions, delightfully arranged standards and cleverly penned vocalese, all showcasing Anjali's musical talents. Anjali Perin - vocals, Liam Noble - piano, Amy Baldwin - bass, Jim Hart - drums.

"The idea for JAZZ FOR JUNIORS came from a desire to sing songs other than nursery rhymes to my kids. I started to teach them lyrics and melodies to the tunes I grew up with and I thought other parents might like to do the same. This musical adventure brings old favourites to children in a jazz style that's different, new and exciting. Have fun....!" Trudy Kerr

Tell Me More blends cool bass and voice intros to elegant swing and strong blues-based tunes with occasional detours into sultry latin rhythms and modern pop grooves.  Featuring two original tunes, a versatile collection of well-known and more unusual jazz standards and even a gospel-influenced Motown track.  Tell Me More.... is an album that displays real passion and character.

Ben Waters is the finest young boogie-woogie pianist in the UK and has already been featured on "Later with Jools" alongside Jools himself, Axel Zwingenberger and Rolling Stones' star, Charlie Watts.  He has the kind of two-handed technique that sets the piano keys flying in all directions.  The words "Powerhouse boogie-woogie" pretty well sum it up.  It's a driving, energetic sound, to put it mildly, and you would have to be in a pretty dismal mood not to get carried away with it! Ben Waters - piano; Derek Nash - saxophone; Special Guest Jools Holland - piano; Chris Longergan - bass; Sam Kelly - drums

Straight from the 'Cool School' of Chet Baker, Mel Torme & Nat Cole comes the stylish, smooth swinging voice of Iain Mackenzie.  Twice on Sunday is the debut album from Iain and is a refreshing selection of Swing and Jazz standards.  Ian's band are Pete Churchill - piano, Simon thorpe - bass, Troy Miller - drums, Pete Wareham - saxophone.

The Only Official Ronnie Scott Tribute Album

"As an evocation of the musical climate that grew up around the Soho club, it would be hard to better this set" (Dave Gelly - Observer). "Crumly....puts down a masterly reading of 'Weaver of Dreams', a Ronnie favourite apparently, with Critch and Drew impeccable in support. Valuable music" (Peter Vacher - Jazzwise)   "It is fitting that he should be remembered with an outstanding album such as this. There is nothing that can be faulted" (Harvey Bard - Crescendo)

The latest CD from award-winning Sax Appeal, celebrating 25 years at the forefront of UK jazz. Featuring a brand new suite of music composed by Derek Nash inspired by the Flatiron Mountains of Colorado.

Something of a miniature epiphany this. A vocal album sufficiently musicianly, substantial and in the instrumental tradition that it could equally well be filed under mainstream. Think vocal jazz automatically equals jazz-lite? Think again. Cloudburst is London-based Australian Kerr's fifth album and follows her fine '02 homage to Chet Baker, My Old Flame. This time she puts the Great American Songbook aside and offers fourteen hardcore jazz instrumentals, to which lyrics and/or vocalese have later been added, either by her or by earlier writers.

Album titles can be random,m ystifying or downright dishonest, but the title of this one is nothing less than the whole truth.  FUN is a scrupulous description of a prevailing mood and a unique musician's raison d'etre.  The Scottish saxophonist Bobby Wellin at 67 sounds about as quirkily lively as ever.

Bobby Wellins - tenor sax, Mark Edwards - piano, Andy Cleyndert - bass, Spike Wells - drums

Geoff Gascoyne is known for his immaculate bass playing but this CD shows him to be a highly original composer too. Working with some of the best among the rising generation of British Jazz, he has come up with a set of pieces, some all his own and some recast standards, that are tuneful, evocative and, at times, quite moving. Featuring  Ben Castle - sax, Anthony Kerr - vibes, Gareth Williams - piano, Malcolm MacFarlane - guitar, Seb de Krom - drums plus Jamie Cullum.

"Trudy Kerr has hit gold with this warm, very inventive and loving tribute to Chet Baker (and the Gerry Mulligan quartet). The standards and the vocalese pieces are performed with panache and great artistry, and her musicians are wonderfully focused and creative. Georgie Fame guests, singing a couple of duets with Trudy, and he wrote two of the vocalese lyrics. Trudy herself wrote two excellent vocalese lyrics. This whole playful, light-hearted album is a joy."

Paul Booth is one of the most exciting and in demand musicians on the scene today. Although a very prominent figure on the jazz scene, his versatility has seen him play in many musical genres. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London from the age of 16 and graduated with honours at the age 20.

After her world tour in 1999, Trudy came home with the idea for this album but it wasn't until later that the record company tracked down the phenomenal Mulgrew Miller and got the recording dates lined up. Geoff Gascoyne completed the arrangements and the whole thing was done in two days. Besides Mulgrew on piano, Geoff played bass and Sebastian De Krom, drums. Listen out for some wild trumpet playing from Guy Barker who showed up to lend encouragement and support to Trudy's new project. Kerr is an open, personable and breezily mellifluous performer John Fordham - Pick of the UK releases - JAZZ UK!

The new CD, The Best is yet to Come, from Bobby Wellins has been worth the wait.  It has been 5 years since the Satin Album was released and it comes as no surprise that this is, yet again, a musical masterpiece. The music for this album was inspired by Tony Bennett.  Tunes that came alive with Tony Bennett vocals now come alive with British great Bobby Wellins. Bobby Wellins - tenor saxophone, Liam Noble - piano, Simon Thorpe - bass, Dave Wickens - drums

THIS ALBUM IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. To download go to smashdigital.co.uk This is Geoff's 3rd album of the "SEASONS" series for JAZZIZIT and is probably his finest. This is hard hitting jazz in a big way and will certainly be among the critics' choice of "good ones'. features Geoff Gacsoyne - bass, Ben Castle - tenor/soprano sax, Jim Watson - piano, Steve Brown - drums. 'Gascoyne boasts an admirable touch, time and tone on an acoustic and electric' Greg Isola Bass Player Magazine (USA)

Derek Nash join forces with US star, the late Spike Robinson, in a classic all swinging two sax front line band. Like Zoot and Al or Ronnie and Tubby, they are the perfect foil for each other, blending the beauty of Getz with the passion of Cannonball. "Add the hippest young rhythm section in town and, as the Young Lion roars, the Old Tiger still burns bright" (Campbell Burnap)

Award-winning sax star, Derek Nash, in acoustic setting with the Rolls Royce of British rhythm sections. He didn't record standards but compositions in the style of classic songwriters (Jobim, Mancini, Basie, etc) written by Derek and his father, Pat Nash, who arranged for the BBC Northern Dance Orchestra for over 30 years).  WIth Alec Dankworth - bass, Graham Harvey - piano, Clark Tracey/Ian Thomas - drums

It is remarkable to think that from the Jazz Suite recording, Stan Tracey and Bobby Wellins did not make another commercial recording until this marvellous CD! After 30 years, the old magic is still there. The tunes so closely associated with Sinatra are arranged beautifully by Stan's son, Clark. Features Bobby Wellins - Sax, Stan Tracey - Piano, Andy Cleyndert - Bass, Clark Tracey - Drums.  "...this is post-bop mainstream at its sparkling intelligent best! " Chris Parker BBC Music Magazine

This very fine Australian singer came to the UK some years ago and worked for Acker Bilk. It's good to see a favour returned as Acker joins Trudy on this CD. Arrangements and keyboards by Nick Weldon and Phil Peskett and this super CD features fine bass playing by Andy Hamill with Mark Fletcher on drums and Mornington Lockett on tenor sax. Trudy is well established at Ronnie Scott's and Pizza on the Park and completed a world tour in 1999.

This is the debut CD of singer Trudy Kerr.  It's an eclectic mix of tunes displaying Trudy's musical style at that early stage of her career.  With standards such as Takin a Chance on Love, the title track is a beautiful Blossom Dearie tune, to a track from Aussie rock great John Farnham.  The band on the outing are Phil Peskett - piano, Andy Hamill - bass, Mark Fletcher - drums and Dave O'Higgins - sax.

Sax Appeal's first album, released in 1991, showcased Derek Nash's writing and arranging.  Having just won the Music for Youth, Small Band of the Year Award, he lined up the best young saxophone players in the country and, with a fantastic rhythm section, recorded this album, assisted by Jon Hiesman, legendary jazz-fusion drummer. Gary Potter is regarded as one of the greatest jazz and country guitarists in the world.  He is a guitarist who is melodic, lyrical and imaginitive, with perfect rhythmic sense.  His playing is influenced by players such as Django Reinhardt - Gary featured in the Channel 4 film 'The Django Legacy'.  His approach to playing jazz guitar, both acoustic and amplified, is sufficiently original to give him an identity that is all his own.

With a singer who can soar and whisper in a heart beat, guest spots from two of this country’s finest, and a rhythm section as solid as Gibralter, this album crackles with energy.

THE LINE UP: Sheena Davis - Vocals, Robert Rickenberg - Bass, Steve Holness - Piano, Pete Cater - Drums, Jim Mullen - Guitar, Guy Barker - Trumpet  "A superb artist singing superb songs" Richard Niles, BBC Radio 2

This is often a delightful album, superbly played by Speake and guitar start Mike Outram and with imaginative bass-and-drums support from Simon Thorpe and Dave Wickins. Instead of opening with the usual headlong Parkeresque double-time, the album begins with almost abstract guitar strumming and floating drumming to underpin Don’t Blame Me. Donna Lee turns in to a bristling improvised counterpoint for Speake and Outram and Speake’s restrained style brings the wispy subtleties of Parker’s 1950’s Cool School disciples back to the original material.

THE LINE UP: Sheena Davis - Vocals, Tom Pilling - Piano, Robert Rickenberg - Double Bass, Steve Rushton  - Drums, Nigel Price - Guitar, Steve Vintner - Vibes, Derek Nash - Tenor Sax.  "A very fine singer full of character and vitality" - John Fordham, The Guardian
